I didn't like this one at first, but now it's scanned and on the screen I'm coming round to it. I expected a mug to be an easy thing to draw but it wasn't easy at all.
I love these mugs - I bought them from Whittard of Chelsea some 12 years ago and I still love their cheery colourfulness and the lovely hand-painted feel about them.

I think this is great. You have done really well with what I find most difficult - the ellipse at the top and also the rim of the mug. Excellent job!
I can't find anything wrong with it at all. I love the colors, and actually it's very convincingly realistic. :) I have to agree that the ellipse at the top from the perspective is the hardest but you nailed it ^^
I understand your feeling all too well, but I see nothing wrong with it. As Alex and marancat said, you nailed the ellipse and the rim. The colors are awesome. It doesn't look childish to me at all. Maybe what you're missing is the shadow on the one side of the cup itself. But, that's a small detail. I think it's a great sketch!

Hi Poppy, I stared and stared at it, because I understood what you were saying but couldn't quite figure it out either. Then I got it! The straight line of that square pattern? Going down the right side of the cup? The middle of it should be curved slightly outward because in perspective, the only straight vertical line would go exactly down the center of the cup. But it has a wonderful Picassoesque flavor anyway, and I LOVE IT!
I think this is a really fun, crisp sketch. You did well and any corrections would be minor. I agree with the above suggestions--I was thinking that the walls of the cup look kind of thick, so maybe the oval of the tea could be bigger so the inside of the cup looks like it goes straight down. Perhaps you could put tracing paper over the original and play with some of these suggestions to see if they help.
I'd be happy to come and share a cup of tea in your cheerful cup.

Beautiful mug! So happy, would love to wake up to that! The contours are perfect, but I think Irene nailed what is bothering you. It doesn't look childish though and I think the colors are fabulous!!
Oh, and here's my secret...I think mugs are more difficult than faces! I have such a hard time with those curves and getting it symmetrical!
