Draw your bed

Draw your bed

So, I seem to be a bit of a failure at this "every day" business. I honestly haven't given up, I just find it so hard to find the time for all the things I want to do. I suppose it's a matter of priorities, but with a full time job, a home to run, a band to practice with, and my other hobbies like knitting/crochet and gardening as well as goodness knows what else -- well, unfortunately the drawing is something I dream of having more time for. If anybody would like to read more about my other passtimes, do pop over to Fantasy Landscape where I blog from time to time about yarn crafts and occasionally about the garden. This space is just for the art -- until I become a little more confident about it -- at which point I may roll it in to Fantasy Landscape.

Thank you all so much for the comments on my last post. I feel a little embarrassed about going so quiet after such a lot of great advice and encouragement. I will definitely be having another go at drawing a mug, taking your thoughts on board -- I really appreciate your input!

So here's EDM 5 - my side of the bed. I knew I'd find this one difficult -- I find it hard even to envisage something as large as a bed squished down to fit on a piece of paper. In the end I resorted to taking a photo and drawing with the photo as source rather than trying to draw from memory or even from sight. As seems to be the way, I'm more pleased with the results than I expected to be, but there's so much more I would have liked to do with this. Lots of room for practice, I guess!

You did a wonderful job squishing your bed onto the page. Very nice sketch.

Hey there,
Your bed is beautiful! I like colorful stuff! :)
And don't beat yourself up. I think "everyday matters" isn't so much about creating a stressful everyday duty but rather about realizing that every single (seeminlgy "unimportant") day bears creative potential and that all those little "everyday things" are worth sketching (or writing, or painting, or sewing...).
Curious to see more of your work! Have fun!

I don't seem to fit in drawing everyday either but I have found that now my knitting and other crafts are taking the backseat to painting and drawing where it used to be the other way around. You might find the same thing happening to you. I noticed it when I set some knitting down to draw it before I finished the sock! I think you will find the thing you end up liking the most will win out for taking your time and there isn't a right or wrong craft to take your time.

A very creative way to draw your bed. I would never have thought to do it that way. It is very dramatic and makes the bed standout in a wonderful way. Your composition of words and art are nice. Keep it up. Use this for learning. Don't let it become a duty. Let it enlighten you to drawing and your creativity instead.

I also have problems with the everyday. But you really did a good job with the challenge. It is an interesting composition and I love the colors.

It's a wonderful little drawing of your bed, and the colorful duvet is so charming! Lots of us have trouble drawing every day. I know I sure do! Just do what you can when you can and try not to let it be a burden to you. It's supposed to be fun! nancy

Lovely bed! And I wouldn't worry too much! We're really about creativity, IMO, and since you're doing other creative things...knitting, cooking...Well, just draw when you can! I don't post every day...not even every week!
